Why You Should Consider Chiropractic Care for Your Dog

7/26/2019

Snap, pop, crunch! Pet parents never want to hear those noises coming from their dog’s body during chiropractic treatment. However, chiropractic treatment is increasingly becoming a popular treatment option recommended by veterinarians. The treatment is commonly used to relieve pain, restore mobility and treat injuries. It is also an excellent treatment used to treat other health issues such as incontinence, separation anxiety, digestive issues and more.

What is chiropractic treatment for dogs?
A licensed professional administers a treatment that involves manual therapy to align misplaced vertebrae in the spine back into its normal position. Aligning the spine releases pressure from the nerve tissue in the surrounding area and allows the body to heal itself naturally.

Chiropractic care is usually used in combination with other treatment options such as adding supplements to the diet. The chiropractic treatment is beneficial for dogs experiencing internal health issues such as digestive problems and other issues such as injuries, musculoskeletal disorders. The treatment usually results in improved posture, mobility, flexibility and pain relief.

What is dog chiropractor treatment used for?

* Nerve problems
* Incontinence
* Separation anxiety
* Acute stiffness
* Muscle spasms
* Acute tension
* Musculoskeletal problems
* Hip dysplasia
* CCL rupture
* Skin issues
* Injuries
* Post surgery recovery
* Osteoarthritis relief
* Forelimb lameness

Here are three excellent ways chiropractic care for dogs can improve your pet’s life:

1.  Internal Health – Chiropractic care often focuses on treating injuries and painful ailments. However, due to re-aligning the spine and releasing pressure from the nerves it also helps relieve constipation and other digestive issues in dogs.

2.  Separation Anxiety – Most dogs experience some form of separation anxiety during their lifetime. Stress and anxiety cause muscles to become tense which have a negative impact on nerves. Chiropractic treatment releases the pressure from nerves and heals the body from negative effects due to anxiety.

3. Hip Dysplasia – The majority of dog breeds experience hip dysplasia which can be very painful. Chiropractic care is used to relieve the pain hip dysplasia causes and helps your dog to have better mobility and overall improved lifestyle.

Bernie’s Thoughts on Being Diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia

Hey guys! Bernie here to let you know I was diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia when I was 4 months old through x-rays. My pawrents knew something was wrong with my cow hocked legs and how I would sit. They took me to see multiple vets and specialists to see what we could do early on in my growth spurt years to cure my hip dysplasia. Surgery was an option at 18months, but my pawrents elected to do water therapy in a huge tank with a treadmill, it was fun once I got the hang of it. I went two times a week for about a year. During this year, I was not allowed to romp around at the dog park- I had to only take slow and easy walks, it was torture! I just wanted to play!

My pawrents also took me to a Chiropractor when I was young and he reviewed my x-rays and eased and align my joints as they were growing. My pawrents weren't done yet, and also took me to a specialized dog Acupuncturist. The Acupuncturist put tiny gold beads into my hip joints via a tube with a needle. It was SCARY- how could the Acupuncturist know where the right spot was with all my floof?! My pawrents researched the studies on gold implants for dogs with hip dysplasia and decided there were minimal risks relative to the rewards of all the cured dogs in the study. What's the worst that could happen? I'd be strutting around with a little permanent bling for life.

Finally, my parents put me on a healthy diet and created an all-natural supplement to cure all of my digestive problems, so that my body could grow as healthy as possible!

UPDATE: At two years old, I went to get my third x-ray on my hips at the same time I was neutered. My x-ray showed no signs of hip dysplasia!And of course my cow-hocked legs were long gone. Score. Good work pawrents. And now I have Lady, my Great Pyrenees wife, that I get to romp around with all day- life is good!

It may be only part of your holistic lifestyle, but know you can feel better too when you try Bernie’s Perfect Poop supplements!

Until next time,
